acceptable use

Terms of service

1. The service

Facet lets you create characters from photos and generate images and videos using artificial intelligence models run by third-party providers. Results are produced automatically and can be inaccurate, unexpected or imperfect.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or over to use Facet. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the acceptable use policy.

3. Credits and payments

4. Your content

You keep any rights you have in the photos and prompts you upload and in what you generate, and you may use your generations commercially, subject to these terms, the acceptable use policy and the licences of the models used. You give us the permissions needed to store and process your content to provide the service. You confirm you have the right to upload every photo you use, including the consent of anyone shown in it.

5. Availability

We aim to keep Facet running smoothly but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Models may be added, changed or withdrawn.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

7. Changes and law

We may update these terms and will tell you about significant changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Privacy policy

Advanced Printing Solutions Ltd is the controller of your personal data under UK GDPR.

What we collect and why

Who processes it

Generation requests, including the photos and prompts they need, are sent to our AI model provider (fal.ai, Features and Labels Inc., USA) and the model developers it routes to, only to produce your result. Captions and content plans are written by a language model reached through fal.ai, which receives the item and its prompt for that purpose only. If product analytics are switched on, usage events (an account id and actions such as "generation started", never your email, photos or prompts) go to PostHog. Payments go to Stripe. Files may be stored with our hosting and storage providers. Transfers outside the UK are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Your photos and generations stay until you delete them or close your account. Deleted items are removed from our storage. Payment records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes. Security logs are kept for up to 90 days.

Your rights

You can access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). You can delete your account yourself at any time (Credits, then Delete my account); this removes your photos and generations straight away. To use your other rights, email [email protected].

Cookies

Facet does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The studio stores your sign-in token in your browser so you stay signed in.

Acceptable use policy

Breaking these rules gets your account closed without refund, and illegal content is reported to the authorities.

You must not use Facet to create, upload or share:

Photos of real people

Only create characters from photos of yourself, or of adults who have clearly agreed to it. If you see content made with Facet that breaks these rules, report it to [email protected] and we will act quickly.

AI labels

Everything Facet generates carries a machine-readable "AI-generated" label inside the file. Don't remove it, and don't present realistic AI images or videos of people as real where that could mislead anyone. When you publish them, say they were made with AI.

Abuse of the service

Don't try to get around safety filters, credit limits or sign-up limits, create accounts to collect free credits, or interfere with the service.
